It’s been an exciting first month of my campaign! Check out what I’ve been up to this past week, learn about my upcoming events, and get involved to support my campaign.
Last week, I was interviewed by KATU News to talk about my campaign, what I love about Portland, and my proposals to improve City Council and the city government so that they work to serve all Portlanders. Please watch and share my interview!
TESTIMONY IN THE WASHINGTON STATE CAPITOL
As many of you know, I led the decade-long campaign to prevent Nestlé from building a water bottling facility in the Columbia River Gorge. As a result of my involvement with that campaign, I was invited to give testimony in the Washington State Legislature last week on legislation that would essentially prohibit corporations from appropriating public water in rural areas for the purpose of bottling and selling it. While the bill passed the Senate but died in the House (as often happens with bills the first time they are introduced), it represents groundbreaking progress, and I am confident that it will pass the next time around. Thank you to Lewis County Water Alliance and its founder, Phil Brooke, for contacting me about this opportunity and for your leadership on this effort in Washington!
Here’s my testimony:
VOLUNTEER WITH MY CAMPAIGN
Sign up to volunteer for my campaign by letting us know your availability and how you’d like to help. In order to win this grassroots campaign that refuses all corporate contributions, I will need people power! LAST CALL FOR MY CORE SUPPORTERS
I know many of you have been meaning to donate to my campaign but still haven’t. That’s okay – now is the perfect time for you to do so! I’m SO CLOSE to getting the 250 donations from Portland residents I need to qualify for public financing. Please chip in now so that YOU can be the one who gets me to my goal. Remember: any donation between $5 and $50 will be matched by the City of Portland 6x. That means that if you contribute $25, you’re really giving me $175!
This is Our City, Our Future –– and together, I know we can make it better.
